Sino Properties clinches fifty-one awards in EPD's Competition on Source Separation of Domestic Waste

Sino Property Services (SPS) received fifty-one awards in EPD's Competition on Source Separation of Domestic Waste 2008/09. Among the accolades, The Astrid and The Royal Oaks received the "Award for Enhancement".

Three other Sino-managed properties were granted certificates in the "Source Separation Programme for Commercial and Industrial Waste". Fifty-five properties have been certified so far.

"By working closely with owner committees we have introduced various facilities and innovative programmes to our properties to enhance the environmental awareness of the residents. The total recyclables collected by the forty-eight awarded properties reached near 1,000 tonnes over twelve months from April 2008 to March 2009, reflecting the effectiveness of our waste management measures," said Ms Ronnie Chan, General Manager of Sino Property Services.

Sino again revealed its strong environmental spirit recently when forty-six Sino properties applied for the Environment Bureau’s newly launched guidelines for carbon auditing. This initiative calculates the amount of greenhouse gas an operation generates. Understanding this enables an appropriate carbon reduction programme to be developed for any property. Further, one hundred Sino Property Services managers graduated from the Sino Green Academy as Green Ambassadors qualified to promote green management and environmental awareness throughout 180 Sino managed properties.

SPS also took the lead in partnering with four secondary schools to organise the Sino Green Academy – Students’ Green Ambassador Programme last month. More than 60 students participated in the programme. SPS Green Ambassadors acted as mentors to the students, who conducted carbon audits at four green Sino Group properties and proposed suggestions for further improvements. From staff to tenants, and to the next generation, Sino passes the message that green is everybody's business.
