Sino Property Services receives Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award in Green Leadership

On 2 December 2009, Sino Property Services was awarded the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award in Green Leadership in recognition of its commitment to the environment. As the only property management company to have won this prestigious accolade, SPS was commended for its efforts in promoting environmentally-related education via its Sino Green Academy.

Mr Sunny Yeung, Executive Director of Sino Group said, "We are greatly honoured to receive this accolade, which confirms our ongoing determination to environmental friendly practices. The Award also gives us impetus to explore innovative green ideas to further engage our stakeholders."

SPS is committed to environmental protection and has been proactively fulfilling Government environmental policy. In 2007, SPS became one of the first 37 Carbon Audit ? Green Partners to adopt the Environment Bureau's carbon audit guidelines.

In 2008, with the support of the Environment Protection Department and Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, SPS launched the Sino Green Academy I. This academy initially trained 100 property managers who became Green Ambassadors. Those first graduates shared their green knowledge and experience with the Sino Green Academy II in 2009, when over 60 students participated in the programme.

SPS Green Ambassadors acted as mentors to the students, who conducted carbon audits at four green Sino Group properties and proposed suggestions for further improvements. From staff to tenants, and to the next generation, SPS conveys the message that green is everybody's business.

Organised by Enterprise Asia, a non-governmental think tank for the development of entrepreneurship across the region and in the promotion of opportunities and fair ground rules for emerging entrepreneurs, the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) 2009 is a prestigious annual event that champions sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship in the areas of Green Leadership, Community Engagement, Investment in People and Responsible Business Leadership. AREA 2009 ran in five countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India and Hong Kong.
