SPS joins City University to develop property management talent

For the eighth time since 2003, Sino Property Services (SPS) has cooperated with City University’s associate of Social Science in Leisure & Tourism Management to organise the “Clubhouse Summer Internship”. Altogether, 18 students have joined the 2010 summer internship and been assigned to 13 Sino clubhouses and customer service centres. By participating in the daily operations of property service teams, the interns have learnt practical property industry knowledge and customer service skills.

The six-week long internship offers 200 hours of training which includes venue reservation, cleaning and security services, event management, swimming pool and facilities management and meetings management. SPS also invited senior clubhouse managers to act as mentors to provide the interns with comprehensive guidance. To help them adapt to the working environment, SPS invited all students to attend the “Sino Star Service Academy” to master grooming standards, telephone and service skills.

Responsible for running the summer internship in past years, Rita Li, General Manager of SPS said, “The overall performance of the interns is quite satisfactory. The performance appraisal forms completed by their attachment supervisors shows that most of the interns are polite and good at cooperation and communication. It also shows that the majority of the interns made dramatic progress in the fields of working skills and industry knowledge. Many staff also praised the interns for their passion and positive attitudes.”

Every year, SPS recruits three to five Assistant Clubhouse Officers from interns who have completed the internship. Students themselves also believe that the internship has enhanced their commitment to working in the property management industry and laid a solid foundation for their future career.

SPS has long realised that offering professional training is an effective way to continuously enhance service levels. SPS have gone to great lengths to tailor the 11 training academies to match task and competency. Among these academies, the “52hr Property Management Academy” is specifically designed to equip university graduates with comprehensive knowledge about property management. Furthermore, the “Clubhouse Academy” is set up to provide new recruits and existing clubhouse staff with 22 hours training in clubhouse management and operation skills.
