Sino Group's annual "Mooncake Speaks for My Heart" charity event brings Mid Autumn festive joy to elderly folk and increases dementia awareness

Sino Group has long been actively participating in a wide range of volunteer and community programmes. This is the 11th consecutive year for Sino Group to organise the "Mooncake Speaks for My Heart" charity event. Over the past 10 years this truly meaningful cause has brought the joy of Mid-Autumn Festival to thousands of elderly people.

This year, on September 23, the day after Mid Autumn Festival, Sino Group collaborated with the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists (Clinical Division of Old Age Psychiatry), Kin Chi Dementia Care Support Service Centre of St. James’ Settlement and The Chinese Dementia Research Association Limited to launch a new volunteer programme: “Caring for the Elderly – Dementia Awareness Day” in Olympian City. To show love and care for elderly people, 20 Sino Caring Friends were invited to help arrange health seminars and present the senior guests with fresh fruit and healthy mooncakes made by Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel.

Long a supporter of community initiatives, Sino Group formed “Sino Caring Friends” to encourage staff to participate in various volunteer programmes on a regular basis. The group believes that voluntary service helps staff to better understand and contribute to the community while they develop their personal abilities, such as their management, communication and leadership skills.
